Ran my 1st 5k today!!!!

Today I ran my first 5k! I was super happy and proud of myself for achieving this goal. I finished it in 38 mins, not bad for a first timer. Iam going to run a few more in the next few months, to try to improve my run time. I want to finish in 30 mins. I ran it with my good friend and work out buddy-Tiffany and my father in law, Frank.
The only thing that i was not happy about was that Jeremy wasnt there. He had to go to San Antonio for work related stuff. He was mad he couldnt be there to watch me finish but it wont be my last run! I think next year im gonna run the half marathon or the relay marathon.

I achieved a goal today!

Today, I ran 3 miles straight! Thats without stopping for breaks. I have never in my life been able to do this! Im really excited and I feel really good! I posted a few months ago that i wanted to run a 5k, well that is next weekend and i think i can do it with full confidence! One of the main things that helps me to continue going to the gym everyday and to keep up the running is the support of a great friend, Tiffany and my husband, Jeremy! They both just are very supportive and they dont nag or ask if i worked out. They just praise when I do go, so that alone helps me to keep going. I have lost a few pounds since i first started working out, its not alot but its enough to me to know that Iam doing something right. I told my husband this morning that next year i will run 1/2 a marathon! Ha! Its a dream, but who knows I just might do it!!!

weight lose as of today is........7 pounds but has gained muscle and confidence!

Fitness Tip

So since I been working out, I been asking Jeremy (my husband) for tips or ideas on what I can do to help me loose weight/be healthier. So here is his tip of the day!

  • eat something/anything within 30 mins of waking up. It can be a banana, yogurt, grapefruit, anything small but semi-healthly for you. this gets your metabolism going for the day.
  • then continue with your normal morning routine, whether it be hitting the gym, or going to work.
  • then eat your normal breakfast.
  • However, the most important thing is to EAT BREAKFAST!

He is constantly telling me this, Iam not a big breakfast eater and never have been, so it's very hard for me to do this, but im working on it. I have been eating a 100% whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and a cup of OJ. Yummmm! Then I usually have my coffee, i cant go without my coffee! This is his routine as well, and if you have ever seen him, he is in shape!

Time to get in shape!

So, today I started working out, to get in shape for a healthier me, but also to prepare myself to run a 5k in April. My life goal has always been to run a marathon, however, that will take awhile to accomplish that goal. So, Im just taking it slow for now and I'll start with the 5k. Another one of my goals is to loose a few pounds as well. We will be going on vacation in a few weeks and I would love to loose 5-10 pounds before we leave. My husband being the most fit and in shape person i know, is going to help me with this. He will be joining me soon at the gym to help me with a workout plan. He goes to the gym every morning but he goes to a different gym at OU. I will keep this blog updated on my progress.
Today I did the eliptical for 20 mins, which is great for me, since I do not like the eliptical at all! Then I ran/walked on the treadmil for 25 mins. I wanted to work out my arms and abs but I was so exhausted by the time I finished with the treadmill, I just gave up and called it a day. I will be heading back on wednesday to sweat some more!
